Wrigley Building to Undergo Exterior Lighting Renovations
Marking its 100th birthday this year, the Wrigley Building will be undergoing renovations to its exterior lighting. The Magnificent Mile landmark is owned by Mansueto and managed by Zeller.
As a part of ownership’s commitment to reinvesting in the building for the next hundred years, the updates to the exterior lighting will include almost 650 new LED flood lights and LED accent lights. These will replace the obsolete metal halide fixtures and reduce energy use by up to 70%.
The relighting project will kick-off on Monday, September 27, when the building’s exterior lighting will be shut off to allow for an accelerated and highly coordinated replacement of flood lighting. It will remain off until the grand relighting of The Wrigley Building, which will occur before The Festival of Lights on Nov. 20. Installation of additional building-mounted accent lighting will continue for the balance of the year.
