Texas Sends More Assets to Provide Ida Assistance

The Texas Military Department and the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) have deployed additional resources and personnel to support Hurricane Ida response and recovery efforts requested by Louisiana through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC). This follows an announcement from Gov. Greg Abbott last week that Texas would continue to review any additional EMAC requests to provide additional response and recovery assets that may be needed in Louisiana.

Additional resources include 116 National Guard personnel including a battalion tactical command, one headquarters company, four ground transportation platoons, one general support platoon and one engineering platoon along with 25 high-water vehicles, seven Humvees, a fuel truck, a wrecker, two track loaders and five fire suppression water tenders. The accompanying 20 firefighters are supplied through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System administered by the Texas A&M Forest Service.
