ONE Central Developer Touts Transit Benefits of South Side Mega-Project
A study released Thursday from a team led by WSP shows the transit hub built as part of Landmark Development’s proposed ONE Central mixed-use project will dramatically increase mobility and transit access regionally, and especially in neighborhoods on Chicago’s South Side. The study projects that the facility would become the largest station in Chicago by daily boardings.
“ONE Central will play a major role in the future of public transit and growth for the city of Chicago and the surrounding region,” said Bob Dunn, CEO of Landmark Development.
Landmark continues to work in collaboration with the transit agencies that would serve the hub. The developer also said it has secured financing for the project.
“What our research concluded is that ONE Central is the only location in the region that could produce such tremendous growth in ridership,” said WSP’s Joe Willhite. “And importantly, it’s the only location that’s financeable.”
