Kirkland & Ellis Confirms Move to Hines’ Wolf Point Development
Law firm Kirkland & Ellis confirmed Monday that it will move its 1,700-employee Chicago office to Salesforce Tower within Hines’ Wolf Point mixed-use development. Although the firm didn’t disclose the size of the lease, Crain’s Chicago Business reported that it’s said to be close to 600,000 square feet.
Jon A. Ballis, chairman of Kirkland’s executive committee, said, “We will miss 300 North LaSalle, as it has been a terrific home with first-class management. But if we were to stay, we would need to completely renovate our practice floors to create more collaborative workspaces and therefore the resulting multi-year construction disruption to our personnel made moving the clear choice for us.”
Newmark vice chairman Bob Chodos and Savills vice chairman Joe Learner served as the lead brokers for Kirkland, representing the firm in site selection and lease negotiations. The deal is reportedly one of downtown Chicago’s largest in years.
