NYC Tech Sector Leads with Vaccine Mandates for In-Office Workforce
Mayor Bill de Blasio on Friday applauded businesses in New York City’s technology sector for their work to mandate vaccines for their in-office workforce. Tech employers including Google, Facebook, Oscar Health, Squarespace, Twitter and Salesforce have imposed mandates, although they’re not obligated to do so.
“New York City’s tech sector has been key to getting us through the pandemic, and they’re leading again on the vaccine requirements for their office workforce,” said de Blasio. “We urge additional industries to follow this example. As we face the Delta variant, vaccination is more important than ever.”
Three of the city’s leading office landlords—the Related Companies, RXR Realty and the Durst Organization—were among the early adopters of the city’s “Key to NYC” plan to mandate vaccines for most indoor activities. The vaccine requirements officially take effect August 16 for indoor dining, entertainment, and fitness facilities across the five boroughs.
