Cuomo to NY Businesses: Bring Workers Back Onsite by Labor Day
Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Wednesday called on New York businesses to to encourage a return to in-person work by Labor Day. Speaking during a virtual address before members of the Association for a Better New York, Cuomo also asked restaurants and other businesses to help allay COVID-related safety concerns by serving only vaccinated patrons on the business’ premises.
“Everyone has to be back in the office,” said Cuomo. “I understand remote learning, I understand remote working, I understand trepidation, but the numbers are down, and we know how to do this safely.
“We need private sector companies to say to their employees ‘I need you back in the office,’” he added.
Cuomo said the return to in-person work was “not just about your business. It’s about all the spinoff economic activity that your workers bring to the surrounding community. And that’s what we need.”
