Whole Foods’ Prices Are Creeping Back Up
According to research firm Gordon Haskett, Whole Foods’ prices are on the incline since Amazon’s highly-publicized price cuts. The average increase on each item was about 1.6%.
The firm checked prices on 110 items at the store’s location in Princeton, NJ, and found that the total cost of a basket has gone up 1% since the end of September. This increase means that Whole Foods’ prices are only 1.1% lower than they were before the Amazon deal took effect in August.
Initially, the price cuts were a huge factor in acquiring new shoppers to the retailer, but now, time will tell how much the price increase will affect its customer base.
