Two Former Forest Park Hospitals Have Second Chances

In late 2015 and early 2016, Forest Park Medical Care system owners shuttered most of the chain’s luxury hospitals, and ultimately ended up in bankruptcy court. The actions left medical centers empty throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Two of the Tarrant County hospitals re-opened with new owners. Methodist Health System of Dallas opened a former Forest Park hospital in Southlane, under the name Methodist Southlake Hospital. Methodist Health acquired the property at 421 E. SH 114 for $17.6 million in May.

Meanwhile, Arlington, TX-based Texas Health Resources relaunched the former Forest Park Medical Center Fort Worth, under the name Texas Health Southwest Fort Worth. The hospital at 5400 Clearfork Main St. specializes in orthopedic procedures. Texas Health acquired the hospital, an adjacent 80,000-square-foot office building, and parking garage for $117 million at a bankruptcy auction.
