Texas has the second-largest pipeline for medical real estate in the nation. Projects being built in 2017 total $15.8 billion, according to medical real estate data firm Revista, in its annual healthcare construction analysis. California took first place, with $16.4 billion in medical real estate projects for 2017.
Revista’s data is focused on approved and funded projects exceeding $5 million in value. The report identified a total of 114 hospitals and medical office buildings under construction in the state, which met the criteria.
“There is a lot of construction and demographic growth in general in Texas, and healthcare real estate goes along with that,” said Mike Hargrave, one of the authors, in the report. “It’s a vibrant economy.”
