Supreme Skate Shop Comes to Williamsburg, Brooklyn

National  + Weekender  |

Talk about experience retail — the new Supreme skate shop in Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood includes a giant skate bowl, where visitors to the store can break out their boards and skate.

The shop at 152 Grand St. opened Oct. 5 2017. The Supreme shop in Manhattan is already a tourist attraction, mixing high fashion and more affordable street culture. The new store in Williamsburg has more space to spread out, in a neighborhood once known for art galleries and now known for new apartment towers.

“It’s a family neighborhood now — a wealthy family neighborhood — with seven-figure condominiums and Michelin-starred restaurants,” writes Jon Caramanica in the New York Times.

The new Supreme store seems to provide a place for all these communities to meet — the art scene, skateboarders and glitterati come together with local families eager to live in a hip neighborhood — an experience shoppers can’t find by buying a skateboard online.
