Scripps Opens $130M MOB in La Jolla
Scripps Health opened a $130-million outpatient facility at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, CA. The seven-level medical pavilion unites services and resources previously disconnected across multiple campuses.
The 175,000-square-foot John R. Anderson V Medical Pavilion is adjacent to the new $456-million Prebys Cardiovascular Institute. Both facilities are connected by a pair of sky bridges.
The new pavilion includes four outpatient cardiac catheterization labs for heart procedures. The center is one of only two outpatient facilities in California operating cath labs, which are typically performed in a hospital setting.
The outpatient facility is expected to be less expensive for patients as a result of reduced facility construction, permitting, and licensing costs for medical office buildings compared to hospitals.
