Palomar Health Expanding Escondido Hospital Campus

Escondido, CA-based Palomar Health is building a new 52-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital in a joint venture with Louisville, KY-based Kindred Healthcare, Inc. The new hospital, expected to open by 3Q 2019, will be located on the campus of Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.

The facility will be leased to the joint venture and managed by Kindred. The company currently manages the inpatient rehabilitation unit at Palomar Health’s Downtown Campus.

The new facility will provide inpatient rehabilitation services that complement Palomar’s highly regarded acute care services and help patients recover and return home. The joint venture and new hospital is seen as a way to grow the health system’s services at the Palomar Medical Center campus, a technologically-advanced hospital that opened in 2012.
