Luxury Dog Hotel Turns to Crowdfunding for Capital
The Pawstonian, a dog hotel in the planning stages, is turning to crowdfunding to finance its development. Specifically, Susan Spence, with Spence Ventures, is trying to raise $30,000 through Indiegogo for the project. The funds will help secure a lease on the location in downtown Austin, as well as contribute to the cost of the build-out.
Services provided by the high-end pooch palace will include luxury suites, personalized meals, indoor and outdoor walks and playtime, dog courier and private parties. Also on hand will be 24/7 vet services, doggie daycare, massages, bedtime stories, dog television and grooming.
Though a luxury hotel for dogs might seem somewhat far – ahem – fetched, an infographic on the Indiegogo sites suggests otherwise. One stat: 123,000 commuters work in downtown Austin, and 29,000 dogs live with them. “As downtown Austin continues to grow as a magnet for urban living and employment, world-class amenities becomes the expected,” said Michael Rollins with the Austin Chamber of Commerce.
