Best States for Veteran Retirees
With Memorial Day right around the corner, we honor those who have served our country! In an interesting study, WalletHub conducted analysis across the 50 states and District of Columbia to assess the economic environment, quality of life and health care across 27 values to deduce the best states for retired veterans.
Here are some of the standout findings:
Top 5 Best States for Veteran Retirees Overall:
- Florida
- Virginia
- New Hampshire
- Alabama
- South Carolina
Most Veterans Per Capita:
- Alaska
- Montana
- Maine
- Virginia
- South Carolina
Lowest % of Homeless Veterans
- Mississippi
- Virginia
- Alabama
- Iowa
- Minnesota
The average officer who retires is 45 years old, and military retirement is a complicated topic because of the different state tax policies. Retired or not, we wish all our service members a very happy and safe Memorial Day Weekend!
