Alamo Drafthouse Breaks into D.C. Market

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema announced its first Washington, D.C. location. The 44,000-square-foot theater will go north at MRP Realty’s Bryant Street development, on the Rhode Island Avenue corridor. The theater is scheduled for a 2019 opening, and will represent the fourth  for franchisee Cojeaux Cinemas.

The new movie theater will join another metro-area Alamo Drafthouse, which opened in 2013 in Ashburn, VA. Another location in Charlottesville, VA is under construction, and will open in summer 2017.

MRP Vice President Michael Skena indicated that the theater is a great anchor tenant for the first phase of the Bryant Street development. Bryant Street, a residential-driven, mixed-use community is set on 13 acres, and will eventually hold 1,550 residential units and 245,000 square feet of retail.
