Women in Real Estate 2020: Kushner Cos.’ Jenny Bernell Sets the Highest Standards

Colleagues say Kushner Cos.’ Jenny Bernell sets the highest standard in her ability to execute the “impossible” in record speed, in an impeccable manner with the utmost professionalism. The EVP of development is simultaneously juggling multiple complex projects in different regions. Though one of the only women in the New York development field, Bernell has coached fellow architecture school alumnus and women in design and proved that women can hold strong roles in this arena.

Bernell is described as a problem solver who seeks to find creative and original development strategies for each site as well as enhance the built environment, work hand in hand with municipalities, and achieve goals important to towns and developer alike. She was recently instrumental in the rezoning of the historic site at 30 Journal Square, a 900,000-square-foot building in Jersey City.

These are just some of the reasons we chose Bernell as one of the 2020 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.

With Kushner starting to become active in the South Florida market, Bernell has quickly learned the ropes in a new area of the US and has developed key relationships in a short time. She is in the process of advancing five towers in the Miami and Ft. Lauderdale areas consisting of more than two million square feet of mixed-use space.
