Women in Real Estate 2020: Capital One’s Kristen Croxton Focuses on Relationships to Drive Growth
The characteristic that most defines Capital One Multifamily Finance’s Kristen Croxton is her exceptional ability to cultivate and nurture relationships, both with her customers and her colleagues. With customers, she looks at a transaction not as a financial exercise but as a strategic puzzle they are trying to solve. Her goal is to structure and execute each transaction in ways that best advance a customer’s goals — even if it is less profitable for her. This means taking the time to understand how a transaction fits into her customer’s business model.
Fostering relationships also means helping customers when there is no guaranteed benefit. For instance, Kristen makes herself available to customers as they prepare to bid on a property, helping them develop a realistic sense of the proceeds they can expect. This preparation gives them the knowledge they need to manage their bidding prudently.
This focus on relationships — one that her partner Greg Reed shares — is the primary reason Capital One’s Newport Beach office has grown from two employees when it opened in 2011 to more than 25 today. The Newport Beach office is currently doing over $1 billion a year in agency financing in addition to balance sheet lending.
These are just a few of the reasons we chose Croxton as one of the 2020 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others.
