2020 Next Generation Honoree: Marcus & Millichap’s Robert Johnston is Established Market Leader

Robert Johnston, senior managing director with Marcus & Millichap, has established himself as a market leader in the Silicon Valley region of Northern California, closing more than $2 billion in sales during his career. He is also Marcus & Millichap’s top producer nationally under age 35, and consistently ranks as one of the firm’s top 20 multifamily brokers nationwide of any age.

At age 34, Johnston, who currently co-leads the Levin Johnston Team of Marcus & Millichap, was promoted to executive director of the firm’s National Multi Housing Division, in which there are fewer than 30 like designations nationwide. Year to date, he outperformed his competition and remains extremely active on behalf of clients despite the effects of COVID-19 on the market.

These are just a few of the reasons we chose Johnston to be one of the National 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Johnston is regularly sought out by clients to consult on repositioning distressed assets. Colleagues say he goes beyond a transactional mindset and assists clients in developing value-add strategies; he participates in every aspect of the repositioning process, from assisting with debt placement to selecting interior and exterior design concepts to maximize value for his clients.
