2020 Next Generation Honoree: SimonCRE’s Joshua Simon Adheres to “First In, Last Out” Approach

Joshua Simon, founder and CEO of SimonCRE, has accumulated 16 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry. SimonCRE is a full-service national commercial real estate developer and owner based in Scottsdale.

The company has averaged nearly 45 project completions across the U.S. annually since its inception in 2010. SimonCRE has completed or acquired more than 180 projects across 22 states, totaling more than $365 million in total value, to date.

Simon is the type of leader that adheres to the “first one in the office, last one out” approach and is continually growth-focused. Outside of the office, he applies his energy and passion for the CRE industry by serving on a number of boards including Arizona State University Sun Devil Club and ICSC Four Corners as an Arizona co-chair. He also shares his insights often as an industry expert at conferences such as ULI Deep Dive and ICSC Next Generation.

SimonCRE has grown from just three employees to more than 30 today, in addition to a nine-member technology platform arm. His most recent accolades include Phoenix Business Journal’s “Most Admired Leaders” (2017), AZRE’s “People to Know” (2016), and Chain Store Age’s “10 Under 40” (2015).

The company has recently taken on revitalizing a 127,280-square-foot burned down grocery-anchored center by securing a national health and fitness brand as an anchor tenant, a public charter school, and more tenants. SimonCRE is also responsible for 100% pre-leasing a 10,733-square-foot multi-tenant center in an underserved area of Glendale, AZ with Dunkin’, Matt’s Big Breakfast, Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, Pinky Nails, Men’s Ultimate Grooming, and F45 Training tenants.

These are just some of the reasons we chose Simon as one of the Phoenix 2020 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s fourth annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
