Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: DLA Piper’s Jay Epstien

Jay Epstien is a partner at DLA Piper in Washington D.C. In his current role, he represents local and national owners, developers and users in all aspects of real estate transactions involving urban office buildings, shopping centers and mixed-use projects.

He has been the lead lawyer on many of the largest office leases in Washington D.C., representing both landlords and tenants, including numerous law firms that have sought his counsel. He has represented major corporations in corporate real estate facilities matters, involving corporate relocations and disposition of significant existing facilities. In addition, he has represented both landlords and tenants in major grocery store leases throughout the United States.

Under Epstien’s leadership, the DLA Piper real estate practice became one of the world’s leading practices. He also created the DLA Piper Global Real Estate Summits, which are industry-leading events held in Chicago, London, Tel Aviv and Dubai that established DLA Piper as a global thought leader among real estate law firms.

It’s for these reasons that we named Jay Epstien to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
