Lawyers in Real Estate 2020: FivePoint Holdings’ Michael Alvarado

Alvarado has guided FivePoint through a series of notable accomplishments, including regulatory approvals and a landmark legal settlement that advanced the Valencia (formerly Newhall Ranch) community development project in Los Angeles County. He was instrumental in FivePoint’s successful May 2017 Initial Public Offering on the New York Stock Exchange, and its ensuing $500-million senior notes offering the following November.
He also guided FivePoint through its acquisition of the Broadcom Campus (now known as FivePoint Gateway) for $443 million in August 2017. With these accomplishments, Alvarado was nominated and recognized as a Leaders in Law In-House Counsel finalist by the Los Angeles Business Journal.
Before joining FivePoint in 2011, Alvarado was a real estate attorney at Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLP for 19 years, where he was a Partner and managed the firm’s Orange County real estate practice group. At the firm, he represented public and private real estate companies, operators, and financial institutions in real estate development, investment, sale, leasing and financing transactions throughout the country.
It’s for these reasons that we named Michael Alvarado to our inaugural grouping of Lawyers in Real Estate. These are real estate attorneys who have distinguished themselves in both their practice and the larger community.
