Women in Real Estate 2019: Molly McShane Proves Herself as a Trailblazer

As COO of The McShane Companies, Molly McShane oversees all development activity and strategic planning, and provides day-to-day leadership and management for three national companies with revenue exceeding $1 billion. Not only has she led the company to financial success, but she has also worked to create an inclusive and family-oriented environment at McShane while increasing employee satisfaction.

Beginning her career as a project engineer before transitioning into development, McShane has hands-on experience in both the construction side and the commercial real estate side of the industry. Accordingly, she’s able to understand and see the full scope of the development process at a more detailed level than most. She’s also future-focused and understands the importance of staying ahead of the curve.

These are just some of the reasons we chose McShane as one of the 2019 Women in Real Estate Award winners. McShane has proven herself as a trailblazer in the construction and commercial real estate industries. Not only was she the first woman in The McShane Companies’ history to rise to the c-suite leadership level, becoming COO in 2014, she was also named NAIOP Chicago’s first female president in 2018. She acts as an example to all women in the industry, and strives to empower young female leaders, both within the company and through the outside organizations she’s involved in.
