Next Generation Honoree: PALMA’s Manuel Marti Focuses on Sustainable Design
An accomplished architect and design leader, Manuel Martí is a studio head for PALMA, which he joined in 2018. His diverse portfolio for PALMA and previous firms includes work throughout the United States and the Middle East, including high-rises, corporate headquarters, academic buildings, residential/mixed-use and medical centers.
That’s just one of the reasons we chose Marti to be one of the Chicago 2019 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s third annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
Marti’s interests are particularly rooted in sustainable and environmental design—he worked as an energy and climate change analyst for a regional planning commission while pursuing his master’s degree. He brings invaluable analysis and expertise in these approaches to each project.
Over the past seven years, Marti has made a career out of developing and promoting sustainable designs for some of the leading architecture firms in the world. He brings his knowledge on environmental assessment procedures, and has a keen ability to translate this knowledge into collaboration.
At Pickard Chilton, where he worked from 2012 to 2015, Marti was an integral member of the sustainability committee, assisting design teams with decisions regarding daylighting and energy and water conservation, and also introducing new sustainability software including DIVA and Sefaira. Furthermore, he promoted sustainable design by organizing presentations that promote daylight and energy analyses throughout the studio.
