Women in Real Estate 2018: CyrusOne’s Morefield is a “Strategic” CFO

When real estate veteran Diane M. Morefield was named EVP and CFO of CyrusOne Inc. in 2016, she recognized she was joining what some consider a non-traditional REIT, given the company’s specialization in data centers. Soon after coming on board, she led a strategic effort to realign the debt structure, including raising significant capital to support the growth of the business.

During Morefield’s tenure, CyrusOne has grown significantly in both market cap, and total enterprise value, from approximately $5 billion to over $8.5 billion today. Recently, it also earned an investment grade rating on its public securities from S&P, only the second data center REIT to achieve this distinction.

These are just some of the reasons we chose Morefield as one of the 2018 Women in Real Estate Award winners. Connect Media’s Women in Real Estate Awards honor the achievements and inspirational stories of women who have reached respected positions of leadership and play key mentorship roles for others
.
Morefield is a “strategic” CFO, who not only focuses on the core financial and accounting execution required by the role, but also serves as a key business partner to the CEO, executive leadership team and board of directors. She is the current chair of NAREIT’s Dividends Through Diversity initiative, created to help advance and enhance women’s roles in the executive ranks, and on boards throughout the real estate industry.
