Next Generation Honoree: Avison Dealmaker Brandon Polakoff Takes a Long-Term Approach

Over the course of his career, Brandon Polakoff has played a role in approximately 150 sales, with an aggregate value of over $2 billion across eight asset classes. Now a director of investment sales in Avison Young’s New York City office, he currently oversees the most listings of any member of the Tri-State investment sales team. A standout example of his round-the-clock commitment to his work is the $62-million sale of 68-74 Thompson St. in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood, a deal Polakoff originated, fully negotiated and closed at the end of 2017 with a 12-hour contract signing that wrapped up at 3 a.m.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Polakoff to be one of the New York 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Along with commitment, Polakoff brings meticulous preparation to each meeting and, even as he originates a potential deal, doesn’t believe in an aggressive approach. Instead, he emphasizes long-lasting connections that are based on trust, and go beyond the pressures of getting the deal done. He looks to offer his client valuable information, as opposed to a sales pitch. Colleagues also say they’re inspired by Polakoff’s impressive list of charitable activities that support the communities he serves.
