Next Generation Honoree: Hunt’s John Hurley Connects Across Business Lines
John Hurley is an emerging leader at Hunt Real Estate Capital, with a strong real estate acumen that has allowed him to successfully transition from underwriting to production, while maintaining a team-focused attitude.
Hurley adds value through his experience working multiple roles and departments at Hunt. He began his career at Hunt as an underwriting analyst, and became one of the only analysts at the firm requested by underwriters across the country due to his intricate knowledge of agency underwriting and ability to find solutions to keep deals moving towards closing. Within two years, Hurley had progressed to underwriter and screening underwriter, then moved into a production role at the start of 2016. Since then, he has participated in over $200 million in closed financings, including over $60 million originated individually.
Those are just some of the reasons we chose Hurley to be one of the National 2018 Next Generation Award winners. Connect Media’s second annual Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.
A hallmark of Hurley’s method is his ability to connect with coworkers across business lines, to improve work product and increase customer satisfaction. He augments his individual production by working with originators new to conventional agency lending, teaching them the keys to accurately size and quote an agency loan. Hurley offers advice and works on other originators’ deals to identify and resolve issues early in the loan approval process, while also brainstorming creative solutions to difficult deals.
