Next Generation Honoree: Brooke Birtcher Gustafson Continues a 78-Year Family Development Tradition

Brooke Birtcher Gustafson helped re-launch Birtcher Development LLC earlier this year, with plans to pursue a $1-billion investment initiative of speculative industrial and warehouse development solutions for logistics service providers, manufacturers and retailers. As the fifth generation co-owner of her family’s 78-year-old industrial real estate development firm, Birtcher Gustafson brings 10 years of CRE experience and a highly-entrepreneurial leadership style to continue building on one of SoCal’s great family development legacies.

That’s just one of the reasons we chose Birtcher Gustafson to be one of the five 2017 Next Generation Award winners for the California region. Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

Early in her career, she handled management of more than one million square feet of warehouse, logistics and business park product in SoCal. Recently, she oversaw entitlement, design, leasing, and project management for a 200-acre, two-million-square-foot, mixed-use, multi-phase development project involving companies such as Amazon, Volkswagen and Costco.

While pursuing an MBA at UC Irvine and handling the company’s national development and acquisition agenda, she currently chairs the Curriculum Committee for the NAIOP SoCal Young Professionals Group (YPG), and remains active in the group serving as a mentor to younger CRE professionals.  She also organized YPG’s Working Wardrobes, a non-profit group helping men, women and veterans overcome difficult challenges and find jobs.
