Next Generation Honoree: Swenson’s Josh Burroughs Looks to Build a Better Silicon Valley

Silicon Valley real estate development professional, leader and strategist Josh Burroughs is described as a community impact superstar. He brings deep family roots, a passion for service and an acute focus on redefining the skyline.

Those are just some of the reasons we chose Burroughs to be one of the five 2017 Next Generation Award winners for the California region. Connect Media’s Next Generation Awards recognize young leaders in the commercial real estate industry who are likely to be influential for years to come.

During his career, he’s entitled and approved more than 1,500 residential units in the Valley, primarily high-density, transit-oriented projects. He’s also secured approvals for Park View Towers Project @ St James Park in downtown San Jose, the North San Pedro Tower Project, and a more than 1,000-bed student housing tower near San Jose State Univ. Burroughs has brought several projects to fruition including NextSpace in downtown San Jose, and global European accelerator, Acceleration Business City, where WeWork is the largest tenant. He currently handles 20 Swenson projects.

His support of community involves helping to kick-start the Levitt Pavilion @ St James Park to the all-inclusive Rotary Playgarden in San Jose. But Burroughs’ dedication to giving the gift of mobility to individuals around the globe is remarkable. Since 2007, he has raised nearly $500,000 for wheelchairs and personally delivered them to those in need in Peru, Oaxaca, Thailand, Bangladesh, China, Slovenia, Nicaragua, Monterrey Mexico, and Panama.

Come see our honorees accept their awards at:
