REBNY, Other Groups Call for More Police Presence in NYC Mass Transit

The Real Estate Board of New York is among the signatories to a letter addressed to Mayor Bill de Blasio calling for stepped-up police presence in the city’s mass transit system, including transit stations and on platforms, trains and buses.

“Discussions with some of New York City’s largest commercial tenants and employers confirm that safety on mass transit remains one of the top concerns among their employees as they consider their return to the office,” the letter reads in part. Although the Metropolitan Transportation Authority has increased the number of police in stations, the letter says City Hall must act as well.

Other groups signing the letter include Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Building and Construction Trades Council of Greater New York, Building Owners and Managers Association of Greater New York, Building Trades Employers Association, New York Building Congress, Queens Chamber of Commerce and the Business Council of New York State.
