Massachusetts Reopens Amusement Parks, Other Outdoor Industries
Massachusetts will move forward in the Commonwealth’s reopening plan to reopen certain outdoor Phase 4 industries effective May 10. These include amusement parks, theme parks and outdoor parks at 50% capacity, and road races and other large, organized group athletic events with staggered starts.
May 10 will also see an increase in capacity for indoor and outdoor stadiums. On May 29, the start of Memorial Day weekend, the Baker-Polito administration will allow parades, street festivals and agricultural festivals, after organizers have submitted safety plans to the local board of health.
That same day, bars, beer gardens, breweries, wineries and distilleries may open, subject to restaurant rules with seated service only.
Since March 22, when Massachusetts loosened restrictions, daily new COVID-19 cases have dropped by 45%, hospitalizations have dropped by 23% and deaths have dropped by 69%. All these metrics have dropped by around 80% or more since the 2021 began.
