Miller Canfield’s Real Estate Group Adds P3 Veteran

Commercial real estate attorney LaVon Johns has joined Miller Canfield’s Chicago office. Johns will be a key member of Miller Canfield’s P3 (public-private partnerships) team and the firm’s Real Estate Group. Her practice focuses on real estate transactions, MBE/WBE certification and nonprofit law.

She has significant experience in advising governments in public/private partnership infrastructure transactions. During the past 16 years, she has acted as lead real estate counsel to the City of Chicago in a $1.8-billion transaction in the privatization of the Chicago Skyway Toll Bridge, a $563-million transaction in the privatization of the Chicago Parking Garage System and the initial $2.8-billion proposed privatization of Chicago’s Midway International Airport.

Johns joins Miller Canfield from Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer’s Chicago office. She is an adjunct professor at the Northwestern University School of Law, where she teaches Structured Transactions/Commercial Real Estate Transactions.
