LaSalle Street Office Properties Come to Market for First Time Since Onset of Pandemic
Two new offerings of LaSalle Street office properties have hit the market at the same time. In the larger of the two, a joint venture of New York-based Fortress Investment Group and Chicago-based Hearn has hired JLL’s Chicago office to market the 26-story building at 2 N. LaSalle St.
In the other, Cushman & Wakefield has put the 25-story 100 N. LaSalle St. on the market on behalf of BentallGreenOak.
Crain’s Chicago Business reported that the listings are the first major LaSalle Street office properties to hit the market since the start of a pandemic that sent downtown office vacancy to a record high and raised questions about future demand for workspace.
These factors complicated a thorny problem already facing owners of vintage buildings on one of the city’s best-known business thoroughfares: tenants are vacating close to two million square feet along LaSalle Street for newly built properties elsewhere downtown.
