AC Hotel Installs Pamplona Rose Artwork

The newly built AC Hotel Fort Worth Downtown is now home to the city’s latest artwork. The AC Hotel Fort Worth Downtown commissioned the piece with assistance from the Fort Worth Arts Council.

Pamplona Rose by Texas artist Julie Richey was installed last week in the hotel’s ground-floor entry at 101 West 5th St. near Sundance Square. Inspired by the original stitch patterns and design of M.L. Leddy Bootmakers, Richey’s Pamplona Rose mosaic sculpture blends an American western sunburst boot pattern into a pavement mosaic with a traditional Spanish Polainas chap mosaic column.

“Julie Richey created a stunning work that embraces the rich arts and culture scene of the surrounding community and alludes to Fort Worth’s Western heritage,” said Joe Blewitt, Jackson-Shaw vice president and developer of the 252-room 16-story AC Hotel Fort Worth Downtown. “Additionally, the distinctly contemporary feel of the sculpture aligns with the deep Spanish roots of AC Marriott Hotels and ‘the art of hospitality’ culture Jackson-Shaw strongly embraces in all its projects.”
