WPC Secures 66K-SF Office Lease in Silver Spring

Bethesda, MD.-based commercial real estate company Washington Property Co. has secured a 66,078-square-foot lease renewal with tenant Social & Scientific Systems at Silver Spring Plaza, a 14-story office tower in downtown Silver Spring. James Cahill of JLL represented the tenant in the transaction.

Located at 8757 Georgia Ave. in downtown Silver Spring, the 242,000-square-foot office building was built in 1970 and renovated in 2001. The property is nearby the Silver Spring Metrorail, a future Purple Line light rail station and a number of shops, restaurants, micro-breweries and entertainment options, as well as hundreds of new and recently-built apartment units.

Social & Scientific Systems, Inc. has renewed and extended its long-term lease following its recent acquisition by Atlanta-based DLH Holdings Corp. The public health research company has renewed its lease for a term of 11 years.
