WeWork Expanding Again in The City?
New York-based WeWork, the co-working space giant, is reportedly in negotiations to open another location in San Francisco, marking its seventh in The City. The company is eyeing roughly 60,000 to 70,000 square feet at Boston Properties’ Embarcadero Center, one of the largest mixed-use complexes in the western US.
The three-floor deal isn’t signed yet at the Boston-based REIT’s three-block, four-tower complex, and neither the landlord or tenant would comment. The more than 3.3-million-square-foot office property was acquired for $1.2 billion in 1998.
In 2014, WeWork cut a 91,000-square-foot deal with Boston Properties, the city’s largest office landlord, at 535 Mission St. WeWork’s other locations in San Francisco include 600 California St., 1161 Mission St., 156 2nd St., 25 Taylor St. and 995 Market St.
