Western Digital Shifts HQ to San Jose

Connect San Francisco is coming up May 9th. Click here for more information!

Western Digital now calls San Jose, CA its corporate headquarters, rather than Irvine. The disk drive maker designated 5601 Great Oaks Parkway, an existing office campus in South San Jose, as its official HQ.

The change is not expected to significantly impact customers or day-to-day business operations. The last few years, the company has been consolidating operations at the San Jose site, and recently said it plans to lay off 131 employees in San Jose and another 51 in Irvine.

Founded in Santa Ana in 1970, Western Digital still plans to maintain a presence in Orange County, where it has 1,400 employees in Irvine, and another 200 in Santa Ana. Its business management, engineering and functional support teams remain in Irvine, where it plans to shift the Enterprise SSD team from Santa Ana.

Western Digital also has sites in Mountain View, Milpitas, Sunnyvale, Fremont and San Mateo.
