West Oaks Mall Macy’s Sells to 1st Emporium

Macy’s Holdings has sold its former West Oaks Mall Macy’s in Houston. The 243,337-square-foot, two-story asset at Westheimer Boulevard and SH 6 sold to 1st Emporium Inc. for an undisclosed price. 1St Emporium Inc., the retail division of Mehta Investments Ltd., had acquired the remainder of the regional mall in August 2017.

Brian Ashby and Sydney Dixon of CBRE’s Houston office represented Macy’s Holdings in the transaction.

The Macy’s store shut down in March 2017, part of the retailer’s announced closures earlier in the year. The new owner plans to redevelop the former Macy’s space into a department store, the Outlet at West Oaks, which is expected to open within the next few months. The retail space will house outlet-priced clothing and other goods.

Connect Houston will take place Feb. 7 at Station 3! Log on here for more details.
