Waterton Hires Matt Mering as Hospitality EVP

Waterton has hired Matt Mering as EVP, hospitality. The announcement comes shortly after Waterton’s strategic alliance with Waterford Hotel Group, a leading hospitality management company.

Mering will be responsible for formulating and executing Waterton’s hotel investment strategy, oversight of asset management and further development of investor relationships. He joins Waterton with over 23 years of hospitality experience, most recently with Graves Hospitality, where he was director of development.

Previously, Mering was a principal at Salita Development, serving as director of development.

David Schwartz, Waterton’s chairman and CEO, expressed confidence that Mering would play “an important role in strategically growing our hospitality portfolio. Matt’s leadership experience, combined with the strengths of Waterton and Waterford, will provide a broad platform to execute our investment plan.”

Announced last month, the strategic alliance combined Waterton’s investment and asset management expertise with Waterford’s operational expertise, as the companies seek to strategically grow their hospitality portfolios.
