Washington Heights on Target’s List of 2020 Openings

Target is coming to Washington Heights. A company spokeswoman confirms that a location of approximately 25,000 square feet is on the slate of openings scheduled for 2020.

City records indicate that the Minneapolis-based retailer signed a lease with 181 Washington Associates LLC, a company managed by Maverick Management Corp.

The deal with Maverick, which is the real estate arm of apparel chain Rainbow Shops, gives Target the option to extend its lease for three consecutive periods of five years each.

“This store will add to Target’s continued growth in Manhattan,” the spokeswoman tells Connect Media. “We opened our Kips Bay store just last month, and have plans to open on the Upper East Side and at Columbus Circle later this year.”

Target also has plans to open two new stores in Brooklyn and one in Queens in 2020, as well as one in Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan.
