Wanted: Luxury Escondido Hotel

An upscale Escondido hotel, long in demand, is once again being planned for the downtown area adjacent to the California Center for the Arts.

City officials hope to speak soon with potential developers of an Escondido hotel, who will submit a “Statement of Understanding of the Site Opportunities”. Escondido is looking for one firm that would be able to design, build and operate the facility.

Several previous plans for an Escondido hotel downtown have failed, including a proposed $56-million, 196-room Marriott in 2006.
