W. P. Carey in 15-Building Sale-Leaseback for Helicopter Campus in Aurora

New York City-based W. P. Carey completed a sale-leaseback with Columbia Helicopters involving a 187,016-square-foot portfolio in Aurora, OR. The portfolio is fully occupied by the helicopter manufacturing and operations company, which is deeply entrenched in the buildings. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 15-building campus is located at 14452 Arndt Rd. The mission critical facilities include offices, shop facilities, an engine test center, training spaces, and a wastewater treatment facility.

Avison Young’s Erik Foster and Mike Wilson, along with members of the company’s National Industrial Capital Markets Group, represented Columbia Helicopters.

“Investors increasingly are turning to sale leasebacks due to the stability of securing a fully occupied building that is mission critical to the tenant,” comments Foster. “Columbia Helicopters benefits because a sale leaseback allows the company to monetize the assets from the facility, while maintaining their existing locations.”
