Urban Catalyst Taps Joshua Burroughs for Development Role

San Jose-based Urban Catalyst named Joshua Burroughs COO and SVP of Development. He will manage the firm’s acquisitions, forward planning and development teams, lead equity and debt placement, partnership/joint venture formations, and project/ /asset dispositions. He will also oversee company operations, by managing third-party consultants and investor relations/communications teams.

Burroughs, who joins after serving nearly 11 years at Swenson, brings experience supervising and directing all aspects of land acquisition, entitlements, forward planning, and land development, including project underwriting, design, construction, relationship management, partnership/joint venture formations, debt and equity placement, management of consultants, and project/asset disposition. He has acquired and entitled more than five million square feet of product in Northern California, including in excess of 1,500 residential units in Opportunity Zones.

Burroughs says, “I’m excited to join the Urban Catalyst team, as we launch the Bay Area’s first multi-asset opportunity zone fund targeting Downtown San Jose and West Oakland.”

Dennis has also worked on communications and launch strategies for a number of consumer electronic, media and tech brands including SlingMedia, Channel Master, Deluxe Media Entertainment, BeIn Sports, EchoStar and Sprint. Dennis’s agency background included firms such as Off Madison Ave., Idea Hall and Macy + Associates. He has earned an outstanding reputation with organization leaders as a trusted advisor, strategic program implementer, consensus builder and exceptional collaborator. Dennis has developed and managed national communications programs for Fortune 500 companies to start-ups, both public and private. He’s successfully worked with journalists across the globe representing clients involved in major-breaking news stories, product launches, media tours, and company news announcements.
