University of Texas Puts 216-Acre MXU Parcel on the Sales Block

The University of Texas System is marketing for sale or ground lease, a 216-acre, mixed-use development site in Houston. The acreage is in the metro’s southwest area, near the Texas Medical Center and NRG Stadium, south of Interstate 610, and along Buffalo Speedway.

The owner hired JLL to market and negotiate on its behalf. The team is being led by Davis Adams and Rusty Tamlyn, and includes Scott Galloway, Colby Mueck and Chris Curry. According to Adams, the site is ready for immediate development, and has “proximity to billions of dollars of infrastructure located in the Texas Medical Center.

Potential users for the site could include life science and pharmaceutical companies, biotech labs, medical manufacturing and public or private institutions of learning. The site could also support high-density single-family and multifamily projects, as well as senior housing.
