University Hospitals Plans $200M Addition to Medical Center in Cleveland
Cleveland-based University Hospitals unveiled plans for a $200-million addition to its UH Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood, OH that is in response to community need for expanded services. The health system, which provides services to 1.3 million patients each year, plans to break ground on a Phase 2 building this fall.
Phase 2 will add a second, five-floor hospital tower and a 64,000-square-foot, two-floor sports medicine complex at the southwest side of the existing buildings. Phase 1, opened in 2011, and encompasses the current 144-bed hospital, 22-bed emergency department, and 60,000-square-foot outpatient medical building.
UH Ahuja Medical Center Phase 2 will feature a new labor and delivery area, a new Level 2 neonatal intensive care unit, a new, expanded emergency room, a women’s health and comprehensive breast health center, an expanded radiology area, a new ambulatory surgical center, an expanded observation unit and a new short stay unit.
