Unitex Takes 188K SF at MA Facility for New Plant

Unitex Healthcare Laundry Services took the entire 188,653-square-foot building at 155 Shepard St. Lawrence, MA. The Elmsford, NY-based company will backfill the formerly owner-occupied Crown Cork & Seal manufacturing plant, following a more than $30-million building renovation.

Specific requirements Unitex considered in the plant location included a minimum 30-foot clear height, heavy water and power infrastructure, ample trailer storage, access to the desired employee base, and overall town support.

“In reviewing a variety of options for new plant development in New England, Lawrence became an obvious choice once we had an opportunity to meet with the Mayor and his Leadership team,” said Robert Potack, CEO of Unitex.

Colliers International’s Greg Klemmer, Tim Brodigan, Tim Allen and Daniel Driscoll represented the family-owned healthcare service provider. The landlord, Boston-based The Seyon Group, which recently acquired the building, was advised by JLL’s James Lipscomb, Michael Ciummei and Joe Fabiano.
