United Airlines Inks 225,000-SF Deal for Houston HQ
United Airlines Inc., based in Chicago, has signed a 225,000-square-foot lease with Hines of Houston.
The deal puts UAL at Hines’ 609 Main building, that is currently under construction in downtown Houston. The air carrier will use the space for a new area headquarters. The company currently operates at 1600 Smith St. and 600 Jefferson, employing 1,600 locally.
The 48-story, 1-million-square-foot 609 Main is a speculative office building scheduled for a 2017 completion. Kirkland & Ellis has already signed a lease to take the top two-and-a-half floors of the building, totaling 62,000 square feet.
