Uber and McDonald’s Ride Together
McDonald’s is in the process of expanding its partnership with Uber. McDonald’s has been in the testing phase with San Francisco-based Uber since December in Florida for meal delivery, but by June, the service will be available in various cities nationwide.
The partnership allows customers to order and pay for their food on their phones, and then McDonald’s contacts the Uber driver for the $4.99 flat-rate delivery fee, paid by the customer. About 70% of meals are consumed outside of the brick and mortar locations, especially in urban areas.
At the same time, McDonald’s is changing its menu and testing its mobile order and pay service in 400 restaurants, in an attempt to try and promote more foot traffic inside the locations.
