Twin Peaks Restaurants Sells Stake to Franchisee

Addison, TX-based Twin Peaks Restaurants sold a majority stake to La Cima Restaurants, which owns and operates 15 restaurant locations across six states. As part of the deal, CEO Starlette Johnson will step down, with La Cima COO Joe Hummel taking over the top spot. Hummel will report directly to Twin Peaks’ board of directors, which includes founder Randy DeWitt and La Cima managing partner Coby Brooks.

Front Burner Restaurant Group, which owns the North Texas-headquartered Twin Peaks, recently sold a stake in its Velvet Taco to Connecticut private equity firm L. Catterton. Details of that transaction were undisclosed. Nor were details of the Twin Peaks transaction disclosed.

Twin Peaks restaurants are characterized by large helpings of comfort food (“man-sized”), a mountain lodge theme and the “Twin Peaks Girls,” attractive waitresses dressed in khaki short-shorts and red-flannel halter tops.
