Tribune’s Proposed 30-Story DTLA MXU Progresses
Tribune Real Estate Holdings’ proposed 30-story mixed-use building in DTLA is moving through the approval process. The city’s planning department published a draft EIR for the nearly 450-foot-tall development at 222 W. 2nd St.
The plan calls for 534,044 square feet of office space, 107 residential units and 7,200 square feet of ground level retail on a 2.71 acre site. The development is proposed on a former L.A. Times’ surface parking lot and parking garage, above the future MTA’s Regional Connector 2nd Street/Broadway rail station and portal that’s under construction.
A surrounding plaza includes a landscaped paseo located between the series of stacked, glassy box buildings and existing parking structure. Amenity decks offer a variety of social and community spaces throughout the building with landscaped terraces, rooftop gardens, and gathering spaces. Indoor and outdoor recreational spaces, as well as private balconies are also planned.
Tribune envisions breaking ground in 2022, and delivering the project by 2025.
