Tribeca is Now NYC’s Wealthiest Neighborhood
In spite of hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin plunking down $238 million to live there, the city’s wealthiest zip code doesn’t include Billionaires’ Row near Central Park. Instead, it’s the formerly industrial Tribeca in Lower Manhattan, which made the top five in this year’s Bloomberg Ultimate Zip Code list.
With average annual income of $879,000, the 10007 zip code that contains Tribeca is the only neighborhood in the city to make the top 20, although five suburbs—including three in New Jersey—appear on the list. Within the broader top 100, 10 Manhattan zip codes made the cut.
“Tribeca is a fully-baked neighborhood,” Compass’ Leonard Steinberg told the New York Post. “It was created as a residential neighborhood in the last 20 years. Before that, it was commercial. When you have an ability to build out a neighborhood with architecture that is already exquisite, then you have consistency.”
